Category Archives: Fast on Friday

Hi all,

I’m still here and still posting, just a little slower than when I started. There’s nothing particularly wrong with me, I’m just a bit off my game for the moment. I’ll get back to the regular posting schedule at some point. Hang in there with me, I still post several times a week–especially Monday and Tuesday.

Last Friday I helped my grandfather celebrate 73 years of life and I did not fast. Below is a calender for the remaining Fridays in September.

As always, feel free to join me!

Something new! I won’t say that I’ve exhausted the available passages of scripture that include fasting. But I will say that when I did a google search last week and read the wiki page, every incident they listed from the Bible–I had a blog post based on it. So I will post a fasting post only on the first Friday of every month until the end of the year. Please feel free to share any experiences you have with fasting on this post throughout the month and I’ll be happy to dialogue with you.

Leviticus 23:27

Also the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy [called] assembly, and you shall afflict yourselves [by fasting in penitence and humility] and present an offering made by fire unto the Lord. (AMP)

The Day of Atonement was a sacred day for the Israelites. It was the day that the sins of the people were atoned for. It was the only day that the high priest was allowed beyond the veil of the temple into the Holy of Holies.  Jewish people celebrate it today as Yom Kippur.
